Youth Project Update Summer 2009
Dear Friends of Telamon Youth:
Exciting things are happening with the Telamon Corporation Youth Initiative in Tennessee! Thank you for your continued support!
- Over 40 photographs taken by children as part of Telamon Corporation’s Youth Initiative have been selected for an exhibit at the State Gallery of the Tennessee Arts Commission in Nashville at 401 Charlotte Avenue. The photographs will be displayed August 13th – September 25th. The gallery is open Monday – Friday, 8:00-4:30. On September 23rd from 10:00am – 2:00pm, the Tennessee Arts Commission will host a meeting about Latino Arts in Tennessee. This will be a wonderful opportunity for many people to see the photographs and learn about efforts to involve more Latinos in the arts. I have attached directions to the gallery.
- Telamon Corporation received grants from Tennessee Arts Commission, PeyBack Foundation and East Tennessee Foundation. Olympus donated 20 beautiful digital cameras to our program! We greatly appreciate the support of our funders and donors.
- We are working with the Migrant Education Program in Dayton, Johnson City and Alamo to conduct two film making projects and a mural project. You are invited to celebrate the children’s accomplishments at upcoming fiestas. The Dayton Fiesta will be held at Rhea Central Elementary School on July 30th at 6pm and the Johnson City Fiesta will be held August 1st from 12:00-3:00 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
